The Ancient Greeks were famous for their pottery. The paintings displayed on the vases and pots and bowls were stories, events, or myths/legends. The Ancient Greeks also were musicians. Archeologists have discovered instruments and composed music.
The ancient Greeks believed there were a great number of gods and goddesses. These gods had control over many different aspects of life on earth. King of all gods and goddesses was Zeus. However, he was not the first ruler of the universe. Before the gods, there were the titans. The ruler of the titans was Chaos. His Grandson, Cronus unthroned him and took over. When the the titans were under the rule of Cronus, it was considered dark times. The Gods decided to revolt against them. When Cronus found out about the gods’ plan, he ate all of them. Thankfully, the gods’ couldn’t die and Zues cut them out of Cronus with his sword. He then chopped Cronus into many pieces and scattered them in a hole in the underworld. The gods locked the rest of the titans in a prison in the underworld with Cronus. The three most powerful gods were Zeus, Hades and Posiden. Zeus became king of the gods and the god of the sky. Hades, the oldest, became the god of the underworld. The third brother, Posiden, took the role as the god of the sea. The Greeks enjoyed writing plays about their gods.
